What is the differance in usage for mein, meiner and meinem?? This is weird to me. Please help.

The possessive pronouns (mein, dein, sein, ihr, unser, euer, ihr) take the same endings as "ein". They take different endings depending on the gender (masculine, feminine, neuter, plural), and case (nominative, accusative, dative, genitive).

Mein Hund ist alt.
Ich füttere meinen Hund.
Ich werfe meinem Hund einen Knochen.

Meine Katze ist alt.
Ich füttere meine Katze.
Ich werfe meiner Katze einen Maus.

Good idea! The "ein" word endings (ein, mein, dein usw) are important, but don't forget there are also the so-called "der" words (aller, dieser, jeder usw.) It's very important to know them all.
