Definite articles on vocab list

Postby nagarjuna » May 29th, 2009 6:18 pm

I think this has been asked for before, but can we have either definite articles for nouns on the vocab list, or else an indication of gender afterwards? So instead of

    Ãœbung

Could we have either

    die Ãœbung

or

    Ãœbung (f.)?

This seems like basic information in terms of learning the language. Thanks.

The gender is indicated in the "Notes" column of the vocabulary list. If it says "feminine", that means that the article will be "die".

We don't enter "die Ãœbung" as a word because it would screw up dictionary order and dictionary search; the backend doesn't speak German.

Thanks for getting back to me. I can appreciate the problem - neither my front-end nor my back-end manage to speak very much German, although not for want of trying. But it might be useful to add a column to the vocabulary list in the learning centre vocab. lists as well for gender, without needing to go back and check the PDFs.

Perhaps these could be color coded? It's useless to learn German nouns without the article.
