Eric: Expressions to Describe Giving Up or Being Left Alone
Eric: Hi everyone, and welcome back to GermanPod101.com. I'm Eric.

Eric: This is Must-Know German Slang Words and Phrases, Season 1, Lesson 11. In this lesson you'll learn how to describe giving up or being left alone. German people use these kinds of phrases after giving up on something, or when they’ve been left behind.
SLANG EXPRESSIONS
Eric: The expressions you’ll be learning in this lesson are:
Jennifer: Einen Korb geben
Jennifer: Weg vom Fenster sein.
Jennifer: Den Löffel abgeben.
Jennifer: Das kommt mir nicht in die Tüte.
Eric: Jennifer, what's our first expression?
Jennifer: Einen Korb geben
Eric: Which literally means "to give a basket." But when it's used as a slang expression, it means "to turn somebody down."

Eric: Which literally means "to hand over the spoon." When it's used as a slang expression, it means "to die."
