| Albert: [slow] Wie war die Weihnachtsfeier? |
| Maryssa: The pattern for asking about manner has three elements. First, "How". |
| Albert: Wie. |
| Maryssa: Second, the conjugated verb for "to be" in the past tense... |
| Albert: war. |
| Maryssa: Third, the subject for "the Christmas party". |
| Albert: die Weihnachtsfeier?. |
| Maryssa: Altogether, we have... "How was the Christmas party?" |
| Albert: Wie war die Weihnachtsfeier? [slow] Wie war die Weihnachtsfeier? [normal] Wie war die Weihnachtsfeier? |
| Maryssa: First you have the adverb meaning "how," then the conjugated verb according to the pronoun, followed by the subject, which you want to ask a question about. |
| Albert: Wie war die Weihnachtsfeier? |
| Maryssa: So remember to use "how" then a suitable conjugated verb and then put the subject right behind it. |
| Maryssa: Here is another example meaning, "How was your birthday?" First, "How". |

| Maryssa: Second, the conjugated verb for "to be" in the past tense... |
