| Maryssa: In this lesson, you'll learn how to use a sentence pattern for asking about location or position. |
| PATTERN |
| Maryssa: For example, |
| Maryssa: "Where are my sunglasses?" |
| Albert: Wo ist meine Sonnenbrille? |
| Albert: [slow] Wo ist meine Sonnenbrille? |
| Maryssa: The pattern for asking about location or position has three elements. First, "Where". |
| Albert: Wo. |
| Maryssa: Second, the verb for "to be" meaning "is" in this case... |
| Albert: ist. |
| Maryssa: Third, the subject for "my sunglasses". |
| Albert: meine Sonnenbrille?. |
| Maryssa: Altogether, we have... "Where are my sunglasses?" |
| Albert: Wo ist meine Sonnenbrille? [slow] Wo ist meine Sonnenbrille? [normal] Wo ist meine Sonnenbrille? |
| Maryssa: Please begin with the word "where" at the beginning of the question followed by a conjugated verb for "to be", which can be either in present, past, or future tense. In the end, you can add more details about the subject you want to talk about, it could be, for example, another verb, adverb, noun, etc. |
| Albert: Wo ist meine Sonnenbrille? |
| Maryssa: So remember to use "where" in the beginning, then add "to be" and conclude with the subject you want to know the position or location of. |
| Maryssa: Here is another example meaning, "Where are my Christmas presents?" First, "Where". |
| Albert: Wo. |
| Maryssa: Second, the verb for "to be" meaning "are" in this case... |
| Albert: sind. |
| Maryssa: Third, the subject for "my Christmas presents". |

| Maryssa: How do you say - "Where are my keys?" To give you a hint, "keys" is... |
