| “What are you doing?” |
| Ich schreibe gerade in mein Tagebuch. |
| “I'm writing in my journal.” |
| First of all you'll need to learn how to say “What are you doing?” |
| That's: Was machst du gerade? |
| Listen to it again: Was machst du gerade?, Was machst du gerade? |
| This German sentence literally translates as “What do you right now?" |
| But it means “What are you doing?” |
| Now, how do you answer this question? |
| The pattern is: |
| Ich schreibe gerade [object]. |
| This German sentence literally translates as “I write right now [object]." |
| But it means “I'm writing [object].” |
| For example: |
| “I'm writing in my journal.” |
